Nova Voxel S

[ˈvɒksəl] – a portmanteau of "volume" and "pixel", denoting the smallest distinct unit of a three-dimensional grid, analogous to the pixel in two-dimensional imaging. Each voxel carries a discrete value representing data at its coordinate in space; in this piece that value will obviously change depending on location. Apart from possibly giving you a daily moment of mindfulness by inviting contemplation inspired by looking at the growth rings in each voxel, the connection between the term and the object is visual only.

Two pieces in the series.

This is the smaller version, made from solid ash wood, also available in large.

Treated with Rubio monocoat pure. Mahogany and hand chamfered edges in the through-tenons details. The piece rests on custom made brass discs for furniture pad attachment.
