III

III is the latest release from Norwegian duo Jonas Sjøvaag (drums + programming) and Juhani Silvola (guitar), two artists dedicated to richly textured, improvisation-driven soundscapes. Released on Shipwreckords, the album presents two fully improvised pieces: Daybreak and Subtle Southern, each capturing a moment in time where sonic experimentation meets evocative melodies.

Daybreak drifts in on soft pulses and subtle tones, evoking the stillness of early mornings. Andreas Ulvo appears on piano, adding delicate lines that intertwine with the duo's improvisations. In contrast, Subtle Southern adopts a rockier feel, with Ulvo returning on Minimoog for extra grit, culminating in an expansive, lead-driven second half.

Recorded, mixed, and mastered by Sjøvaag who also handled the visual design, III offers a cohesive, immersive experience. It rewards attentive listening, inviting you into deep musical interplay and introspection.
