This is a project of mine that varies constantly, both in regards to the musical output, as well as the constellation of musicians. I first started writing music for Navyelectre in 2002, using an old laptop, a broken Sony stereo mic and a wonderful program called CoolEditPro. This resulted in a record released on the label Chewinpine in 2004. The record was reviewed by the Norwegian daily press, and everyone seemed to like it. The record was entitled '1' and is still around, now even as a digital re-release on my own label Shipwreckords. As I did this first record entirely by myself (apart from mixing, which was done with the help of Audun Borrmann), I got this great idea to really crank things up for the next one. As a result I gathered 15 musicians, wrote new music and got it arranged for this new ensemble, and recorded 13 songs in two days in a beautiful house in the western part of Oslo. We played some concerts with a live band featuring 10 musicians, but then it all came to a halt and the record was never released. It's still around, though, and you can hear parts of it here on this site. I've got a plan releasing it digitally, but I'm not sure when that will happen. Anyway, after a few more years I started writing music for Navyelectre yet again. The result was the record 'The Mourning' released digitally and physically on Shipwreckords in April 2008. Once again people seemed to like it, and the record was rated at a 6/6 from Bergens Tidende. This year we're playing at NuMusic in Stavanger, Punkt in Kristiansand and Ultima in Oslo. The lineup this time consists of four people. Eple trio operates at the interface between jazz, chamber music and folk music. The tradition established by Swedish musician Jan Johansson was, in the beginning, the primary inspiration for our music. Our trio has an original and distinctive idiom, free of what have been described as “piano trio clichés”. The Trio was founded during studies at the Norwegian Academy of Music, from where all members have a Bachelor and a Masters degree, both in improvised music. We've been playing together for more than six years now, and have released two albums, both on the Norwegian label NORCD. The first album, entitled 'Made This,' was released in 2007, and the followup entitled 'The Widening Sphere of Influence' was released in September 2008. Both albums have received great reviews in both the Norwegian and International daily press. Eple Trio's homepage |

A project by Karl Seglem, as the name says. Karl is a Norwegian saxophone player, that isn't afraid to substitute his sax with a goats ram if necessary. We've released one album so far. This is entitled 'Norskjazz.no' and was released on the German label Ozella music. Karl Seglem Quartet's homepage |

I've beein doing some solo improvisations, not very often though, but it has happened. I'd like to do it more, as it involves several instruments I like very much. It's mostly based on some drone-ish sound coming out of a circuit bent Casio SK-5, paired with the glitches from a bent SK-1. I usually use kalimbas, as well as a sampler, and as I recently bought a Elektron Machinedrum the possibilities for sonic adventures within the drone/improv/electro-area have improved significantly. Sounds are up on this site, more to come soon. |
